The challenge
A cycle tourism company wanted to bring its routes to riders' phones: not just a GPX file to download, but an app to choose the right ride, understand how hard it is before setting off, and discover what is worth seeing along the way.
What we built
An iOS and Android app built in Flutter, designed from scratch with a BLoC architecture.
- Route catalogue with photo, distance, duration, difficulty, climbing and descent, plus difficulty filters and search by province
- Route detail with description and elevation profile
- 2D and 3D maps on Mapbox with custom styles, and a 3D flyover that circles the route before you set off
- Audio points of interest: tap a point on the map and listen to its story
- Ride mode: the map follows your GPS position along the track, and every ride ends up in your route history
- Accounts with email confirmation, activation code, password recovery and account deletion
- Consent and location permission management, 4 languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish) and a dark theme built for outdoor use
Outcome
Riders find the right route, preview it in 3D and ride it with the map in their pocket, while the company publishes routes and points of interest from its own platform without releasing new app versions.
